What does peace mean to you? I don't think a lot of the human race knows what peace is or how to obtain it. Just as we try to find joy and happiness in relationship or possessions we try to find peace in the same things.
Maybe some are searching for peace? Maybe some don't know exactly where peace comes from. If you haven't read Galatians 5, you should. It is among my top favorite chapters in the bible. You know how they say there is no black and white, only grey? Well, to me, this chapter helps separate what we should be doing and what we shouldn't be doing. It tells you what the sinful nature consists of and what the fruits of the spirit consists of.
Let me ask you a simple question. Proverbs 3:5-6 states this, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." My question is do you believe that? Do you TRUST in what it says? If you it then you believe the whole bible. So, read the next couple of verses. Its part of the chapter I mentioned that is my favorite. Galatians 5 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." If you have asked Jesus into your heart, that means the Holy Spirit has moved into you heart. That means all of these preside within you.
Honestly I could go on and on about all of Galatians 5. Maybe another time. Notice the words joy and peace though. Joy and peace are with in you. God wants you to be able to live you life with them. There in you, you just need to pretty much water them. I mean, they are fruits, right?
Yesterday I was listening to a podcast. They were talking about beauty. If you are a man, please do not close the window because the subject of beauty was brought up. I have a purpose for this. They said this. We won't have true joy until we step into what God created us to be. To make the podcast stories short, they stated how at one point or another most of them tried to change who they were. One of them were black. She went to a school full of white people. She turned her hair blonde, because she stood out so much. One of them were a tom boy growing up. She tried to be a real girly girl. She said it didn't fit in the end. She said she loved the out doors, and stuff along that nature. Once she stopped trying to be this real girly girl, she found peace with. She found joy.
The group of ladies made this comment that stuck out to me. They said that joy makes you beautiful. That really hit home to me. Peace with myself has been a struggle for me. Loving who I am. Accepting my personality, my gifts, and who I am really has been a struggle. One of the ladies confessed she was struggling with it at the time. They all stated they think everyone goes through seasons where they will feel comfortable with who they are, then may hit a snag and then they don't. I like their honesty. Everyone wants to feel good about themselves. Everyone wants peace with in. I am so convinced, and completely believe, that the only way to do any of this is to be who God created you to be. To do what God created you to do. He told us that He knew us before we were even formed. He speaks so highly of what our possibilities are in the bible.
I believe he did not create us to be down cast all of the time. Think about it. When we are down about ourselves. Down about our situation. Thinking about everything that may be wrong. Thinking about what could go wrong. That stirs up what this generation would say is bad vibes. The scripture says where the mind goes the man follows. Mic drop. That said it all right there. What are you thinking about? There is a reason that the word says think on good things in Philippians 4:58. Our peace, our joy comes from knowing who we are in Christ. That's where it starts. Knowing Him. Reading what he has. I encourage you to read the Word. Look up in the concordance to find what you are going through. If you are looking for peace in your life, look up what the word says about peace. If you are needing to know how to love people that are hard to love, look up love. For that particular subject look in 1 Corinthians 13. That is a good place to start.
To end I hope everyone knows that they have a great purpose here on earth. You are beautiful. You have talents that was made to make this world a better place. You were made to live in peace and joy with our God. Yes we will do that in Heaven, but he wants to live with you now. He wants the best for you now.
