Insecurities Take the Place of Peace

The ladies at my church are doing bible studies together through the bible app. The one we are going over right now is called "Breaking Free From Insecurity". Today's lesson said that we should use the truth to counter lies.

The enemy works in an atmosphere of darkness (quoted from day 9 in the study). This is where you can bet deception is having a field day in our lives. In the darkness, in the secret. "Our enemy's hope is that we will keep our insecurities in darkness. He doesn't want us to talk about them, think about them, or share them with others."

Insecurities keep you bound. If there is an insecurity, then there is not any peace in a portion of your life if not all of your life. When I think of peace, I remember the shoes of peace. Shoes are there to protect our feet when we move from one place to another. Shoes allow us to move over rough terrain without the bottom of our feet getting tore up. That is why the soldiers in the bible had them for part of their armor. That is why we wear them today. So, when we allow for insecurities to stay and take root, we are not allowing ourselves the proper clothing (figuratively speaking) to move foreword in our lives. Move forward when rough times come.

Rough times will come. There is no doubt about that. The word says to put on our full armor for when (not if) the day of evil comes, so we can be prepared. (Ephesians 6:10-18) We want to be fully prepared. We want to make sure we have our whole lives out there in the open for God. He already knows us better then we know ourselves. He still wants to have the invite into your life. Your entire life. That includes your insecurities. When we are honest with ourselves and him about what is an insecurity and that it is hindering us, then we have taken the first step to overcoming them.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." Ephesians 6:10-18

Maybe you struggle with a very common insecurity. Your body image. Maybe you struggle with a mental insecurity. For instance you do not think you are adequate to do what you need to do in life. In your job, in your family, etc. Maybe you have a social insecurity. You think you are not funny enough, or you believe no one likes you or understands you. There are many different types of insecurities and there are different roots in your life they have come from. Don't think you are alone and don't think you can't overcome them, though. You can. As child of God anything is possible. He has given you all of the tools you need. He has given you Jesus, first of all. He has left the written Word for you to use. He has left the Holy Spirit within you. He will send you people into your life that will encourage you.

Don't let Satan keep you bound by the lies he tries to get you to believe. Don't let those insecurities take the place of the peace of God. Walk through those rough times and good times reminding yourself constantly of who you are in God. Don't let Satan's lies steal your identity.

Insecurities hold you back from the life you were meant to live.
