"Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil"- Psalm 37.8
Another way to say the scripture above is "Cease from anger and forsake wrath".
How many of us have been in situations where we knew to do this but we did not? Meeee...
In that moment where worry or anger comes over us, the feelings and emotions raging through us can sometimes be unbearable. It's like a tea kettle ready for the lid to come off the top of it when it is heating up. That is us when we are ready to flip our lid. We have what feels like steam coming out of our ears. In the middle of the rage we act and say things that we later regret. In the middle of worry or panic we make decisions that again, we later regret.
The Lord gave us some wise advice. Don't give into the opportunities of rage. The giving in slightly, if not fully, pushes open the door for Satan to come in and reap havoc in our lives.
The truth is, is we are humans. If you are christian, you are a human being being transformed into the likeness of Christ. With transformation come change. With change comes some discomfort and learning new habits. So, do give yourself grace, because you are not perfect. I am so thankful for that revelation for myself.
We are being transformed though. We want to see the change God can make in our life. That takes us taking the first step. That takes us not giving Satan any opportunity to step foot on our turf. We have that authority to keep him out. It just takes us putting scriptures like Psalm 37:8 into action.
