Be You

I shared a meme yesterday. It said this. "When you're tempted to compare, remember that HER capacity isn't YOUR capacity. You have unique roles and responsibilities, and your capacity shouldn't be compared to anyone else's" I shared this because it means a lot to me. It took me sometime to realize that comparing myself was actually hindering the gifts that I possess inside of me. Comparing who you can actually be prideful. God made each of us in specific way with a specific purpose. Each of us have specific gifts to accommodate the specific responsibilities we have to make this world function right. Some of us have leadership skills that can help us run small and large companies. Some of have teaching skills that help us be school teachers and trainers on the. Some of us can sing, some of us can draw, some of us can maintainer gardens (you brown thumb readers know exactly what I am talking about lol). We all have gifts we should use to enjoy this life with. We should not down ourselves because we don't have a skill that someone else has.

I will speak of Joyce Meyer a lot in my blog posts, she has been an inspiration to me. But she wrote something I just read that jumped out at me. She said this. "God must love variety or He wouldn't have created us all differently—even down to our fingerprints. You'll never succeed at being yourself if you're trying to be like someone else. Other people can be a good example to you, but duplicating even their good traits will manifest differently through your individual personality." (a) You see that you will not succeed at being yourself if you are trying to act or be someone else. Yes some people are successful, they are funny, they have good personality traits. If you try to mirror what they do, though, it will not look good on you. Because they are being them. You should be YOU.

You may have some character flaws you need to work on. A couple that comes to my mind right now that people may need to work on is jealousy, laziness, anger, COMPARING YOURSELF. Yes those are things you should work on plucking out of you. But overall you should work on being who you are. Which is a child fearfully and wonderfully made. You have a brain and a heart that God created to do specific tasks.

Another thing people compare is the way they look outwardly. I want to address this real quick before I finish up. You are beautiful. Again, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. If you think you could lose a couple of pounds then do it. If you think you would like having highlights in your hair then do it. There is noting wrong with that. But don't look at the girl in the movie, or the reporter on espn and say I want to look just like her. Don't try to change your hair because you envy the way the girl next door looks, and she has that hair color. Don't try to be anyone else but who God called you to be.
