Focus

Jamie Kern Lima wrote this. "What you focus on magnifies and multiplies and where you focus your own energy can not only create how you see and experience reality." Yesterday I wrote in my journal about getting the to the root of my low self confidence. If you look at the parts of a plant root you will notice there is a primary root, there is a lateral root, and a root. So any thought process or issue has a place it started. For me finding the roots of my low confidence is important. To me unburying and burning that stuff will help me be more successful in life.

So, that being said, I'm sure there are several roots that need to be unburied and burned. My first focus thought is actually just that. What am I focusing on. If my focus magnifies and multiplies, I don't want to be focusing on the wrong things. What Jamie said helps me to recognize that I do want to focus on the right things. She went on to say this, "So often this dialogue can turn into the voice of our own inner critic." What type of dialogue are we setting up in our head? Is it a positive one about others and ourselves? Are we constantly focusing on weaknesses? These thoughts can continue to play out in your head. These thought cause you not to show gratitude and love to yourself and others in your life.

For me, focusing on my weaknesses so much has caused me to not be the person I know I can be. To be successful as I know I could be. It has caused me to only recognize when people say something negative, which causes me to internally have a pity party or just become offensive. I magnify the negative instead of growing where I am strong at. Honestly, because some of us focus on the negative so much, we forget where our strengths are. When it comes time to start building up on our strengths, we could sit around dumbfounded. Wondering what is my purpose? What is it that I am good at or good for?

I believe this is a raw topic. It can go deep for those who identify with it. It can make you feel vulnerable. I believe we all have a purpose though. I believe God did know you before you were even formed in the womb. I believe he placed talents and capabilities inside of you, that was made specifically for you. You are made wonderfully. Never forget it. If someone says otherwise, you don't have to be rude, but you don't have to accept what they say. There is a scripture that identifies with that. "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" 2 Corinthians 10:5. Throw those thoughts to God, and let him show you what you are made of. You are made in the likeness of him, and he, the creator, lives inside of you. He chose to live inside of you. 🧡🧡
