The Victory of Heaven

If you haven’t gone over Priscilla Shirer’s bible study “The Armor of God”, I highly recommend it! I went over it back in 2019 with a group of friends. I recently pulled it back out and started going over it again. It taught me so much of the power that I have in Christ then. The roots of its teaching continue to go down. On day two of week one it is talking about how we are seated in heaven with Christ, NOW. As soon as we accepted Him as savior we were transported to heavenly places.

The study says this word for word. “In ancient times being seated was the symbolic posture of a king whose army had already been victorious in battle. Instead of standing, pacing, worrying himself to death, he would park himself on his throne as a visible statement of his complete and utter triumph.”

This part is what enticed me to write this post. It gave me a visual of what we can do in Christ. She wrote that yes, we are still on earth. Just as Job on the heap of ash or Paul in prison, we still encounter all kinds of hardships. “But because of our spiritual location we always have hope. And, through Christ, we can bring the victory of heaven into our experience on earth.” The Lord has been pointing me to look at hardships in a certain way lately. To look at them as an adventure. As great possibilities.

You see Satan’s ultimate goal is to steal the inheritance that God has for us. This includes the love, joy, peace, ultimately wholeness. He was kicked out of Heaven. He wants to keep you away from it. So he tries to distract you with things of this world. Things of the flesh. Tries to get you focused on those things instead of the ultimate deliverer, Jesus.

What happened to Peter when he looked at the storm instead of Jesus. He sank. The same goes for any circumstance that is designed to take us under. To make us sink instead of doing the impossible and rising. Instead of walking on water. These circumstances are our chance to allow the power of God work through us. Priscilla said, “we can bring the victory of heaven into our experience on earth.” Jesus said that we would do greater things then he would do. He brought the victory of Heaven to earth. He healed people from things like leprosy. He rose people from the dead. If he said that we would do greater things, why are we not seeing more of it? There is so much division, so much sickness. It is heart breaking, really.

We all have the capability of seeing great things played out in our individual lives. When a circumstance comes up we should rejoice in God knowing that this is another way he can show his goodness. Romans 5:3-5 “Not only so, but we are in glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Circumstance grow us. It gives us a deeper perspective into the love, mercy and power of God. Yes Satan does want to bring us down with circumstances that as humans we would not have chosen for ourselves. But just as he tried to take Job down, he didn’t. He destroyed so much of what Job had. God restored everything plus added more, though. Satan tried to kill Jesus, but he was dumb for doing that. He flipped the script, and not only did Jesus rise from the dead. God made a way for all of His children to have that same power to live in them. The power to overcome every obstacle.

Jesse Duplantis wrote a book that I highly recommend. It’s called I Never Learned to Doubt. What if we learned to never doubt the Word of God? What kind of healings would we see in our lifetime? How many people could we see risen from the dead? Families restored? Salvations? Food for thought.
